Description
Bignor Park is a mansion built by John Hawkins between 1826 and 1829, designed by architect Henry Harrison. It is a rather plain Regency mansion with two storeys and five windows, finished in stucco. The building features a moulded cornice and parapet, along with a hipped slate roof. The end window-bays project and are connected on the ground floor by a portico that has four steps leading up to it. This portico is supported by two rectangular columns that enclose a solid porch, along with two half-columns featuring anthenium capitals that support the entablature. The doorway is framed by a moulded architrave with a rectangular fanlight above it. The windows are also set in moulded architrave surrounds on console brackets, and they retain their glazing bars. There is a recessed service wing of lower elevation located to the south-west.
