Description
This is a threshing barn with an attached horse engine house, located approximately 95 metres north-west of Frost Hall Farmhouse. The building dates from the 18th century and is constructed of tooled sandstone with a pantile roof. It has an L-shaped plan and is 1½ stories high, featuring a three-bay front and a single-storey lean-to outbuilding on the left side.
On the left, there is a semicircular cart arch made of herringbone-tooled voussoirs, which has double board doors. To the right of the arch, there is a board stable door situated beneath a heavy herringbone-tooled lintel. The barn has square pitching holes on both sides of the loft floor and a stepped eaves course. The gables are coped and feature kneelers.
On the left return, there are two wide openings with board doors, supported by long timber lintels. Inside the barn, the right bay houses a large horse-powered barn thresher.
