Description
Haywards Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, with an addition from the early 19th century. The original part is constructed of brick and has a thatched roof, while the later addition features a slate roof. The building is two stories high, with three bays and a stack/passage bay. At one end, there is a taller two-story, two-bay block from the 19th century, which is positioned at right angles to the main structure.
The front of the farmhouse includes the addition on the left-hand side next to a stable door set in a heavy frame. The left end of the original part features an early 19th-century gabled porch made of brick, with lugged detailing and a slate roof. To the right of the porch, there is a planked door above which are two-light casement windows. The other bays on both floors have three-light casements. A raised band runs along the first floor, and the roof is hipped. A large stack with multiple flues is located above the left of the center bay. The left-hand later wing has 12-pane sash windows on both floors and a hipped roof with a ridge stack.
