Description
The Gables Carvery, located at No 33 on Dunster High Street, is probably an early 18th century building that has undergone later alterations. It features a stucco exterior, slate roofs, and brick chimney stacks. The structure is two storeys high, plus attics, and has two gables adorned with moulded copings, pilasters, and moulded string courses. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, including 2-light windows in the gables. There is a segmental head above a dormer window, and the building has shouldered architraves with cornices. The ground floor windows are topped with a cornice on consoles. The central doorway is framed by a segmental pediment, pilasters, and consoles, with a plain semi-circular fanlight above. There is a modern door at this entrance, and to the left, another doorway features a semi-circular moulded architrave with a keystone and a traceried fanlight, also with a modern door.
