Description
The garden walls and gate posts adjoining the north-east side of Drascombe Barton date from the late 19th century, incorporating earlier gate posts likely from the 18th century. They enclose a small garden in front of the hall and parlour. The low stone rubble walls project forward and return across the front as a low brick wall, on which cast iron railings with fleur-de-lys heads are set. The central gateway is flanked by granite gate posts, with similar terminal piers at each end. The square-section posts feature moulded caps with ball finials. A contemporary pitched cobble path leads from the gate to the front door. These attractive garden walls are part of the late 19th-century modernization of an important farmhouse.
