Description

The dung pit, located approximately 4 metres north of Hole Farmhouse, is likely from the 18th century. It is constructed from large, undressed blocks of granite and is circular in shape, set into the slope at the center of the farmyard in front of Hole Farmhouse. The pit was accessed from the north-eastern (downhill) side, where there is a gap in the revettment walls. This dung pit serves as an important feature of the farmyard and is part of a group of attractive farm buildings nearby, including the notable Dartmoor longhouse, Hole Farmhouse.
