Description
Butterwell is located approximately 100 metres south-east of Collihole Farmhouse. It is built into a walled bank over a natural spring and constructed from blocks of roughly dressed granite. The bank faces north-east and is supported with granite, featuring a square-shaped alcove that is about 1.5 metres high, covered with a slab of granite. A low slab is set upright across the front, and there are no visible shelves inside. This butterwell is part of a charming group of listed buildings in the hamlet, which includes two former Dartmoor longhouses, Collihole Farmhouse and Collihole Cottage.
