Description
The Old Bridge is a former road bridge over the West Dart, constructed between 1772 and 1797. It is built of granite rubble with dressed granite voussoirs. The bridge features two segmental arches that spring from imposts and have projecting keystones, along with a triangular cutwater on the central pier. It has a cambered parapet. The road from Tavistock to Moretonhampstead, which this bridge served, was turnpiked by two acts in 1772. The bridge is depicted in a painting from 1797 by John Swete.
