Description
This barn, located approximately 8 meters southeast of West Week Farmhouse, is likely from the 17th century and was reroofed in the 20th century. It is constructed of granite stone rubble, featuring large, neatly-dressed quoins, and has a corrugated iron roof, which was probably originally thatched. The barn is designed as a threshing barn that faces the farmyard to the west. It has two opposing doorways leading to the threshing floor; the front doorway is wide and full height, while the rear doorway is smaller. The roof is gable-ended, and the interior is open to a 20th-century replacement roof structure. This barn is part of a charming group of buildings associated with West Week Farmhouse, which is considered one of the finest collections of traditional granite buildings in this area of Dartmoor.
