Description
The railings and wall adjoining the south and west of No. 48, Pitt House, are from the 18th century and are located on the north side of Ford Street in Moretonhampstead. The front area features iron railings with spearheads on the shafts and baluster stanchions topped with urn finials, all set on granite coping atop low dwarf walls. The double gates in front of the house door match the design of the railings and have gateposts that resemble the stanchions. Additionally, there is a garden wall to the left (west) that encloses two sides of the courtyard next to the house. This wall is likely from the 19th century and is constructed of granite rubble with dressed granite quoins for the gateway jambs.
