Description
The lych gate, likely built in the 19th century, is located on the north side of Church Cottage in Drewsteignton. Constructed from coursed blocks of massive granite ashlar, it features a slate roof. This lych gate, which includes a kissing gate alongside, serves as the west entrance to the churchyard. The outer wall, which faces the church, is made of granite ashlar and has a chamfered plinth, large shaped kneelers, and granite coping. The roof, supported by this wall at one end, retains its original ridge and purlins. The structure shelters timber double gates that are panelled below the lockbar and open above with wrought iron railings topped with an iron fleur-de-lys crest. These gates are mounted on large strap hinges. The kissing gate to the left is designed in the same style.
