Description

The Old Rectory is a building located on Old Rectory Close in Rodborough, dating back to 1680. Originally constructed as weavers' cottages, it was converted into a gentleman's residence in 1805 and underwent alterations in 1842 when it became a rectory. In 1958, the building was divided into two houses. The structure is made of hammer-dressed rubble with a rendered front and features a pitched stone roof and ashlar chimneys. It stands two storeys high with attics and includes four ranges of tripartite mullioned windows with pointed casements added in 1842. The building has two gables with distinctive terminals on the coping from 1680, along with tripartite mullioned windows with pointed casements. The porch, which dates from 1805, has a pointed barrel vault, crenellations, finials, scrolled angle buttresses, and roll moulding. The rear elevation features double-hung sash windows with glazing bars, also from 1805.
