Description

The privy located immediately northeast of Besbury Cottage dates from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of limestone rubble with dressed quoins and features a stone tile roof with gabled ends at both the front and rear. The building has a rectangular, almost square shape, with a doorway at the front that includes a plank door. There is a very small window on the west side, positioned under the eaves. Inside, the walls are plastered, and the roof is made of exposed common rafters with a ridge-piece. The privy contains a two-seat soil box.
