Description

This is an early to mid-19th century mill, built on a site recorded in the Domesday Book, and converted and extended in the 1930s. The main two-storey block is constructed of coursed and squared rubble with a Cotswold roof, and features an ashlar chimney to the left, detailed with a cornice. It has three segment-headed windows with keys; the outer windows are three-light, the centre window is two-light, and all have leaded casements. A central oak door is topped with carved brackets supporting a flat hood. A contemporary hipped section projects to the left, with square-headed windows to the front and Tudor arched windows to the side. A modern two-storey wing connects to the main block and to contemporary converted stables, which include a large dormer window, two segment-headed windows, a former coachway now fitted with a door and flanking windows, and steps leading to a gable end on the upper floor. A further extension extends to the north-west. The front garden has been modernised with Cotswold style mullion windows. A lower half-hipped, one-and-a-half storey extension to the left, which formerly served as a wheel and mill house, is enclosed by a garden wall. This wall incorporates a handsome wrought-iron gate with ball finials on quadrant walls, marking the entrance.
