Description
No. 5 Bridgeland Street is a house with a shop, likely built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, though it may include part of a house from 1697. The front is solidly rendered and features a slate roof with an old red brick chimney on the left gable end. The building has three storeys and a three-window range. The ground storey has been completely altered with a mid or late 20th-century shop front. The upper storeys have barred sash windows, with six over six panes on the second storey, and the outer windows are triple-sashed with two-panel side lights. The third storey features three over three panes. There is a small boxed eaves cornice. Inside, only the stair compartment on the rear right-hand side was inspected, revealing a wooden geometrical stair with thin square balusters and a voluted balustrade at the bottom, along with moulded cornices at the landings.
