Description

This gateway, located approximately 120 metres east of the ruins of Stevenstone House, dates from around 1872 and is part of the rebuilding scheme of Stevenstone House by the Honourable Mark George Kerr Rolle. It is made of cast and wrought iron and features gate piers on each side of the east drive leading towards the village and the Church of St Giles. The piers are square in shape and hollow, with open grilles designed in a patterned strapwork style. They have closed bases and cornices topped with low pyramid caps. The gateway likely includes the original plain iron gate, which has diagonal cross braces.
