Description
The bridge over the Gara, located immediately north of the ruins of Ford Corn Hill, is a road bridge that likely dates back to the 18th century. It is constructed from local slate rubble and features a dressed slate arch ring. This small hump-back bridge has a single span with a segmental, almost round arch that springs from vertical abutments. The original low parapets are topped with pitched slate coping and have vertical slate lacing. The parapets are splayed out over the abutments, and at the north end of the east parapet, there is a large gate-pier leading to the former Ford Corn Mill, which is now in ruins. The gate-pier is made of dressed slate rubble, is square in plan, and has a rebate for a gate.
