Description
This is a pair of gate piers located immediately south of Dartington Church of England Primary School, built around 1860-1870, with a fountain added in 1902. They are made of dressed random grey Devonian limestone and feature moulded stone caps. The piers are square in shape. The left-hand pier includes a fountain with two round-headed niches stacked one above the other; the upper niche originally had a basin and a water spout. Above the fountain is a plaque that reads, "The fountain was erected by the Parishioners of Dartington to commemorate the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra 1902."
