Description

The Hamlyn chest tomb, located approximately 4 metres south of the chancel of the Church of Saint Mary, is a Grade II listed structure dated 1779. It features a squared sandstone base and a sandstone top with a chamfered lower edge. The inscription on the top commemorates James Hamlyn, who died in 1779. A further inscription was found to be illegible at the time of the last survey in July 1987.
