Description
These gateposts and gate, located approximately 350 metres south of the Old Rectory, date from around 1840 to 1850. They are made of plastered brick or rubble piers and feature a cast iron gate. The gateposts are large, square-sectioned with moulded bases and flat caps that are soffit-moulded. The gate itself includes a lockrail and railings topped with fleur-de-lys finials. The alternative rails rise only to the lock bar, while the full height rails are adorned with foliate knots on their upper sections. The lower section beneath the lock rail has diagonal cross braces.
