Description
This chest tomb, located approximately 20 metres south of the west tower of the Church of St Mary, dates from the mid-19th century. It is made of Portland stone and features cast iron railings. The tomb has a rectangular shape with a moulded base and lid. Its sides are adorned with sunken fielded panels, and the centre of the north side displays a heraldic achievement within a circular panel. Although there was originally an inscription on a plaque attached to the south side, this plaque is no longer present. The surrounding area is enclosed by railings with spear heads and circular-section corner posts topped with urn caps, all set into a Portland stone plinth.
