Description
Higher Filleigh Farmhouse is a house built in the mid-19th century. It features plastered rubble walls and rubble stacks topped with 19th and 20th-century brick. The farmhouse has slate roofs and is designed as a two-room double depth house that faces south, with a central staircase plan. Both the front and rear have parallel roofs, and the rear block contains a third room that projects to the right (east). There are end stacks at the front and rear of the building.
The main block is two storeys high and has a symmetrical front with three windows, each fitted with 16-pane sash frames, and is flanked by panelled pilasters. The central entrance features a 19th-century six-panel door with an overlight and is sheltered by a simple timber porch with a flat roof supported by plain posts. The roof is gable-ended.
The projecting part of the rear block has two 19th-century first-floor casement windows with glazing bars, along with a secondary 20th-century door and an inserted garage doorway on the ground floor. The rear also includes 20th-century casement windows. The interior has not been inspected.
