Description
The stables and linhays, located approximately 4 metres north of Trinity Leigh Farmhouse, are likely from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with a roof that was replaced in the late 19th to early 20th century. The structure is made of cob on rubble footings and has a corrugated iron roof. It consists of stables on the left end, a 3-bay linhay in the centre, and a 2-bay linhay on the right end, all facing the farm courtyard to the west. The stables feature a central plank door with a loading hatch for the hayloft above, and small windows on either side. Both linhays are of Alcock's Type T1, characterized by full height uprights of large scantling set on stone rubble pads. The roof is hipped at both ends, but the majority of its structure consists of late 19th to early 20th century replacement A-frame trusses. This is an unusual farm building that includes many fittings from the late 19th century.
