Description

Nos 38 and 39 on Cowick Street are unaltered houses dating from around 1810. They are built from red brick and rise three storeys. The first floor features tall sash windows and iron balconies, while the semi-basement windows have iron grilles. Both houses have round-headed doorways with reeded transoms and imposts, as well as fanlights. No 39 includes ground floor shutters and a cherub's head keystone above its doorway. The sash windows are fitted with glazing bars, and the buildings are topped with a slate roof. These houses are part of a group that includes Nos 35 to 54 and St Thomas's Church.
