Description
Carswell Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 16th or 17th century, constructed from stone rubble with a roughcast front. It features a new concrete tile roof with stone coping on the gable ends. The building is two storeys high and has a four-window range, with modern casements and a modern porch at the center. There are chimney stacks at both gable ends, and a single-storey wing at the rear along with a modern wing at the west end. Inside, the farmhouse has heavy chamfered ceiling beams and a fireplace at the west end, which includes a cambered and chamfered timber bressumer and chamfered jambs. It is noted that there was likely a screen to the cross passage.
