Description
Ratfyn Farmhouse is a farmhouse built between 1750 and 1800, located on the site of an earlier building and a Roman site. The structure is made of brick in Flemish bond, with a gable featuring flint and chalk chequerwork, and has a tiled roof. It is two storeys high, with an attic and cellar, and has a three-bay facade that returns to form an 'L'-plan on the right. The re-entrant angle is filled with a two-storey building from the 19th century, which was further extended in the 20th century. There is a central porch from the 19th century that covers a half-glazed door. The windows are four-paned sashes in their original openings, complete with gauged brick lintels and keystones. The building features a plat band and brick dentilled eaves, as well as two 16-paned dormers with hipped roofs. The main roof is hipped and has shouldered stacks on the rear wall. The rear wing consists of two bays and has been extended by two additional bays, with a large dormer on the hipped gable end. Inside, there is a closed string stair with stout turned balusters.
