Description

The wall retaining the terrace in front of numbers 13-27, the Smyth Almshouses, was built between 1900 and 1902 by Edward Gabriel of Bristol. This coursed rubble wall is approximately 4 feet high and features ashlar coping with an ovolo moulding. There are square piers at intervals along the wall, each topped with a moulded cornice and a ball finial. At the western end, the wall bows out to create a semi-circular forecourt.
