Description

Bedchester House is a 17th-century farmhouse located in Fontmell Magna, with significant alterations in later centuries. The building is constructed of ashlar and rubble walls, topped with thatched roofs, and features end brick stacks and stacks at the intersection of the building ranges. It has a roughly L-shaped layout.

The main facade has two storeys and a three-window range, with casement windows containing glazing-bars. A 19th-century porch, containing a plank door, is positioned centrally. At the rear of the building, a blocked timber mullioned window is visible, filled with wattle and daub, alongside the remains of a wall-plate indicating the house was originally likely single-storied. The rear range windows feature 19th-century brick dressings.
