Description
The General Wolfe Public House is a mid-19th century public house located on Bodmin Road in St Austell. It features a stucco exterior with stucco detailing and a dry Delabole slate roof that has projecting front eaves, along with brick end stacks. The building has a deep plan and stands two storeys above a cellar, displaying a symmetrical three-window front. It includes a plinth and a mid-floor entablature, with moulded hoods on consoles above original hornless sash windows that have glazing bars and margin panes. The central doorway is pilastered and features a tall overlight above a four-panel door. At the rear, there are original 16-pane hornless sashes on the slate-hung wing. Inside, the left-hand room retains an original chimneypiece. The pub is included for its group value, as it holds an important position in the historic centre of St Austell.
