House, now nursing home. c1790. Stucco, lateral stacks, slate double-pile hipped roof. Axial, double-depth plan. Late Georgian Picturesque style. 2 storeys; 13-window range. A symmetrical grouping with flanking wings, leading to 2 canted bays either side of a single first-floor Venetian window. 3:3:1:3:3 windows, some 6/6-pane sashes survive in a much altered front, with keyed segmental heads beneath a first-floor plat band; outer wings have smaller windows. Cornice, balustrade to middle, crenellations to bays and slightly lower wings. C20 extensions to sides and rear, which has plainer flat- and segmental-headed openings. 4 chimneys to gable-ends of central blocks, valley roof with hips projecting above bays. INTERIOR: altered. Originally laid out with pleasure gardens of approx 60 acres. Former stables, now converted to houses, survive to the rear. (Stoddard S: Mr Braikenridge's Brislington: Bristol: 1981-: 3).
