Description

The hand crane at Mud Dock in Bristol is a cast-iron crane dating from around 1886. It features a small hand-operated design with an open framework jib, gears for lifting and swivelling, and a pintle-type bearing. This crane is located on the site of Bristol's Great Crane, which was considered one of the wonders of the Docks in the 18th century.
