Description

The memorial cross to Captain John Samer, who died in 1916, is located in the churchyard to the north of St. James' Church. Designed in a late medieval style, the cross is made of ashlar stone. It features an octagonal base consisting of three steps and a chamfered octagonal shaft that is supported by a square plinth with stop-chamfered edges. The head of the cross is finely carved, adorned with pinnacles and relief panels depicting the crucifixion on the east side and a saint on the west side.
