Description
The Inn and Public House is a mid-18th century building that originally comprised two houses. It features ashlar stonework with rubble on the sides and has a hipped double Roman tiled roof behind a parapet with a cornice. The west elevation is raised on a semi-circular retaining wall and consists of two storeys with three bays. It has glazing bar sash windows in plain surrounds, with the outer two windows blocked, and square panels between the windows. The central entrance is a panelled door located beneath a flat stone hood supported by brackets. The north elevation is partly constructed of rubble and partly of ashlar, also featuring two storeys and a basement. It includes three glazing bar sash windows, with two paired on the left, a plat band, a dentilled cornice, and a parapet. Inside, there are moulded cornices and beams. The associated building, No. 54, is a mid-18th century cottage made of ashlar with a modern tiled roof. It has one storey and an attic with a large modern dormer, and a panelled door to the left.
