Description

Bough Cottage and The Bough House with the attached shop are two buildings situated on the High Street in Ardingly. The Bough House, at number 22, likely dates to the 17th century and is a single-story building with an attic, featuring one window and two gabled dormers. The exterior is faced with ashlar, red brick, grey headers, and tile-hanging, with a tiled roof. It has casement windows, and a later addition is located at the rear. Bough Cottage, number 20, is a later addition dating to the 18th and 19th centuries, a two-story building with two windows. It is constructed of red brick, with part of the first floor tile-hung, and has a tiled roof. A small 19th-century shop window with four lights and Gothic heads is situated at the north end.
