Description

The stable located to the northwest of Field Place is a 16th-century carthouse that was being used for cattle at the time of the survey. It features Sussex bond brickwork and had a missing roof at that time. The building is two storeys high and includes an 18th-century inserted cambered casement window and a stable door with a 20th-century concrete lintel. There is one opening on each floor of the end elevation. Inside, in the southeastern corner, the stable retains six rungs of an original wooden ladder, which is a very rare survival.
