Description

This is a large, 18th-century granary located at Broadbridge Farm. It is a timber-framed structure built on a sandstone base and clad in tarred weatherboarding, topped with a half-hipped slate roof. The granary has two storeys and three bays.

The exterior features an unusual jettied first floor that runs the length of the building. The north-western side has three small window openings and two double hoist doors with pintle hinges. The ground floor displays some exposed posts and two plank doors. The north-eastern side includes unloading doors with pintle hinges, both on the first floor and leading to the attic. The rear elevation has four casement windows and first-floor unloading doors.

Inside, the wall frame features diagonal tension braces, upright posts with a cut profile, and an angled queen strut roof.

This is an unusually large, two-storey granary with a largely intact timber frame.
