Description

Pratts Farm is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the late 16th century. It features a two-bay end chimneystack design with an 18th-century outshut that was extended by two bays at the front around 1927, along with a T-wing at the rear from the 19th century. The building is timber-framed but was refaced in brick during the 18th century and is now painted. It has an old tiled roof with the original end brick chimney relocated to the center and an external brick stack on the northwest side. Only the northernmost two bays are of special interest.

The house is two storeys with attics and has two windows in the original section and two more in the extension. There are 20th-century gabled dormers with casement windows, and early 20th-century casements on the lower floors, although the ground floor windows feature 18th-century cambered brick head linings. The entrance has a cambered doorcase with a 19th-century door, which is obscured by a 20th-century porch. The 18th-century outshut and the 20th-century painted brick T-wing complete the exterior.

Inside, the building has a box frame with a queen post roof, side purlins, jowled posts, and curved tension braces. The dining room retains an original bressumer above an open fireplace, although the original fireplace itself has been filled in. There is an 18th-century partition wall leading to an 18th-century winder stair. The first floor features old floorboards in a cupboard, a 17th-century two-plank door, and a 17th-century panelled door with cocks head hinges.
