Description
Climping Mill is a 18th-century smock windmill, originally built in 1799. Currently, only the ground and first floors remain, which are faced with flints and weather-boarding, as the upper sections were demolished in 1954. Adjacent to the mill is a mid-19th century mill-house that is two storeys high and features four windows. This house is faced with cobbles, accented by red brick dressings, quoins, and a flush stringcourse, topped with a tiled roof. The glazing bars are intact. In 1954, a curved porch with one storey above was added to connect the mill's remains to the mill-house. The architect for this addition was Sir Richard Garton.
