Description

Walberton Park is a large Regency country house built around 1817 for Robert Prime, designed by the architect Robert Smirke. It is considered one of the finest examples of Regency architecture in Sussex. The main house is two storeys high and has seven windows, constructed with stuccoed walls. Architectural details include a prominent cornice and parapet, with the end window bays subtly projecting. The original glazing bars remain intact. A notable feature is the eight-column portico, constructed of fluted Doric columns that extend the full length of the front of the house. The interior includes a good staircase. Modern service wings have been added to the north side.
