Description
Upton Farm House is an early to mid-18th century building, with parts of the rear and interior likely dating from a considerably earlier period. The south front is symmetrical and constructed of red brick with grey headers. It features a shallow, moulded wooden eaves line below a steep slate roof and gable chimneys. Five flush sash windows, fitted with glazing bars, are evenly spaced, with the central one slightly wider. The ground floor windows have gauged heads, each with a shallow straight hood above. A central wooden porch, with a flat lead roof over a cornice, has elliptical arches to the front and sides (the latter enclosed), supported on paired Tuscan colonettes and pilasters. Above the three-panel door is a fanlight with decorative glazing bars. The west end is weather-boarded. Two double-storey wings extend from the rear, constructed of flint and brick with steep slate roofs. A further one-storey extension runs from the west side of these rear wings.
