Description
Nos 3 and 4 are a pair of semi-detached cottages built around 1850 for the 2nd Earl of Radnor. They are designed in the Cotswold Vernacular style and constructed from rubble stone with stone dressings. The cottages feature a gabled Welsh slate roof with stone external end stacks that have offsets and coupled corniced, diagonally-set flues.
The buildings are two storeys high and consist of three bays. The outer bays have projecting gabled wings, each with a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light window above. The central bay includes a pent-roofed three-bay basket-arched arcade that forms a porch, with a two-light window on each floor and flanking four-panel doors. The windows are fitted with small-pane casements, chamfered mullions, and surrounds, along with hoodmoulds over the wings. Additional decorative features include moulded kneelers, coping, and finials on the gables.
Attached to the right is a single-storey, two-bay former shop, which has a four-panel door and a two-light window. There are also rear additions to the cottages.
