Description

Keeper's Cottage is a well keeper's cottage built around 1864. It is constructed of red brick and features an old plain-tile roof with a brick stack. The building has an octagonal plan and is a single storey. The principal entrance faces the road and has a plank door with a rebuilt brick porch that has a lean-to roof. Each diagonal face of the cottage has 2-light wood casements. The roof is hipped and octagonal, with an octagonal stack at the center. The interior has not been inspected. This cottage was built as the keeper's cottage for the Maharajah's Well and was funded by the Maharajah of Benares at a cost of £74 14s 6d. Its design reflects the octagonal shape of the well. The cottage is included for its group value.
