Description
No. 8 St Aldate's Street is an early 19th-century house that stands three stories tall and is constructed of ashlar stone. It features a decorative band at the first floor, a moulded cornice parapet, and a hipped roof covered with Welsh slate. Each floor has three sash windows with plain reveals, although the center windows are blind. The side windows on the first floor are adorned with iron balconies. On the south side, there is a modern projecting bay and another window with a trellis balcony, along with an early 19th-century hood. At the back on the east side, there is a two-story addition made of red brick. The house was built after 1806, possibly by Elias Taunton. Nos. 6 to 8 St Aldate's Street are part of a group of listed buildings.
