Description

This is a chest tomb dated 1768, located approximately 9 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St Thomas a Becket. The tomb features walls made of red brick in English bond, while the east end has a sandstone plaque. The flat lid of the tomb is made of sandstone and has square sides, except for the east end, which projects further and has a soffit-chamfered edge. The east end plaque is inscribed with barely legible Roman serif upper and lower case lettering, recording the death of Elizabeth, wife of Richard (?), in 1768.
