Description

This is a mid-19th century terrace of shops and dwellings on the High Street. It comprises numbers 15 to 25 (the odd numbers). The building is three storeys high and faced in stucco. The roofline features a parapet with balustrading and coupled square piers at intervals, decorated with shell-shaped antefixae. Beneath the parapet are rusticated pilasters. An eaves cornice is present, embellished with modillions. Numbers 19 and 21 have sash windows set within Italianate architraves, with largely intact glazing bars. A few three-light sashes are also present, along with some later Regency-style blinds. Later shopfronts have been installed, and numbers 15 to 39 (the odd numbers) form a notable group.
