Description
No. 124 High Street is a notable example of a restored 15th-century timber-framed house. It has four storeys and features two windows. The first and second floors overhang, supported by protruding ends of the floor joists and brackets, while the ground floor has been underbuilt and now includes a modern shop front. The first and second floors are adorned with wide curved braces that extend outward, and there are small four-light oriel windows that do not appear to be original. The attic floor has two gables, each with curved braces arranged in a pattern opposite to those below, meeting to form an upside-down V. Each gable contains two very small casement windows, separated by an upright timber. Nos. 122, 124, 126, 126A, and 128 together form a group.
