Description
Holywell Cottages is a pair of cottages that were originally a house, dating from the 16th century and around 1700. The building features a timber frame that is plastered, along with structural red and blue chequered brick at the front, topped with plain tiled roofs. It consists of two parallel ranges, with the front section dating to around 1700 and the rear section from the 16th century, which has a continuous jetty.
The front elevation has two storeys set on a plinth, with a plat band and a wood dentil cornice. There are stacks on both the left and right sides, and the double return hips of the rear wing are visible over the roof ridge. The windows are arranged irregularly, with one tripartite sash, one wooden casement, and one stair light on the first floor, while the ground floor features two tripartite sashes and a central door that is boarded and glazed.
