Description

The White House, comprising numbers 1, 2, and 3 Farningham High Street, is believed to date from 1743 and is mentioned in Hasted's History of Kent of 1797. It is a three-storey building rendered with a black and white stucco finish. The roof is covered with slate and features a heavy cornice with modillions and a parapet. The front of the building has three sash windows with original glazing bars on each of the three floors. A doorcase with engaged Doric columns, a pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, and a six-panelled door is set back four steps. The south-east front has six Venetian windows, while the north-west front has three, all featuring ‘Gothic’ glazing. A red brick chimney breast is visible on the north-east wall.
