Description
The dovecote in the grounds of Bydews Place is a structure dating from the 17th century or earlier. It was altered in the 19th century when it was converted into a cottage. The building is two storeys high, constructed of stone, and features a conical tiled roof with a hipped pigeon entrance and a yellow brick chimney stack. There is a stringcourse present, and the dovecote has two inserted 19th-century casement windows with modern leaded lights. The doorcase has a cambered arch. Inside, the ground floor contains pigeon holes, and there is a 19th-century semi-circular wooden staircase. This dovecote is part of a group that includes Bydews Place, a cottage to the north-west, Bydews Farmhouse, a former granary to the south-west of Bydews Farmhouse, and an oasthouse located south-west of the former granary.
