Description

HAYLE PLACE is a large house dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of red brick with a hipped tiled roof, detailed with a wooden modillion eaves cornice. A brick string course runs above the ground floor. The front elevation features six sash windows with moulded architrave surrounds; the first-floor windows have bolection moulded architraves and projecting cornices, the two central ones further accentuated by pediments. The original glazing bars are largely intact, except on the ground floor where four windows have been altered to create French windows. A side entrance is sheltered by a porch with pilasters, a pediment, a semi-circular fanlight, and a six-panelled fielded wooden door. An L-shaped wing of two storeys was added to the rear around 1830.
